Real News: Cyprus

Much like the relationship that has been developed between the US and South Korea, it seems that the same relationship is developing between the US and Cyprus in the Mediterranean. While I am somewhat unknowledgeable about many of the things that happen politically, it seems that the major purpose of us continuing relations with South Korea is to keep a closer look on North Korea and to have bases and strike points in a closer vicinity to them. These bases may be of great importance due to the tyrant, Baby Huey, making misguided threats to both the US and South Korea. Dealing with a power with as little as North Korea, one would think the presence alone of these bases would be enough to command more civility from them. In any case, if the north does decide to act we have a platform to strike quickly and efficiently. This is what the island country resembles for the US in the Middle East. A platform in close vicinity that is in need of assistance. We entered into South Korea when helping them fight against the North. We are now intervening in Cyprus’s financial woes for what could be the same reasons. It is a good location near all of the troubled areas of the region, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and others. It gives us distance but keeps us close. And since we are there to “help them”, they will have less problem with us being there. Just a thought but I believe one that is worth contemplating.

To honestly care about “EVERYTHING” someone says and does regardless of importance seen by others.

Everything interests me, but nothing holds me.

There is no shame in being hungry for another person. There is no shame in wanting very much to share your life with somebody.

Here comes the train….

This semester is drawing to a close. It has been a doozy. 32 hours of coursework including 4 of the toughest classes in the program (Human Anatomy, Kineseology, Neurological Disorders for Physical Therapy, and Orthopedics in Physical Therapy), 23+ weeks straight of classes, and countless assignments, tests, and quizzes. But now, it is drawing to a close. All we have left are three final exams, one project, and one lab practical. The “marathon” semester is coming to a close.

Ha, the saying at about one fourth of the way through was, “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, oh wait, that is a train coming.” But now, I can clearly see that it wasn’t a train, but the actual light on the other end of the longest tunnel I have ever gone through. It brings a feeling of disbelief and shock to think that what we have gone through and thought would never end is actually coming to a close. It reminds me a lot about pledging for my fraternity. Looking back now, I have trouble remembering the exact things that I was hating at the time and I do remember the hours spent studying and working with friends, the times we spent relaxing and unwinding after big tests, and the times we all spent stressing just before those big tests.

I look back on it and say, “It wasn’t too bad, actually I kind of had fun and learned alot.” But if someone asked me honestly, I would have to tell them, ” HELL NO! I would never want to do this ever again.” But it has brought us all here, to mile 26. How about that last .2? I’ll take down that train.
